ABOUT ECOPV-EU

EPR compliance from Eschborn. For all of Europe.

Who we are, what we take care of, and the questions manufacturers ask most often.

ECOPV-EU GmbH, based in Eschborn near Frankfurt am Main, Germany, is a service provider for extended producer responsibility (EPR). Since 2020 we have helped manufacturers, importers and online sellers meet their obligations for electrical and electronic equipment (ElektroG/WEEE), batteries (BattDG), packaging (VerpackDG/LUCID) and single-use plastics (EWKFondsG): from registration and ongoing volume reporting to take-back and disposal. ECOPV-EU acts as an authorised representative under the ElektroG, provides an insolvency-proof guarantee through its own guarantee system, and is an approved producer responsibility organisation (OfH) under the BattDG. Beyond Germany, we handle EPR obligations in more than 20 European countries, with offices in Italy, Denmark, Sweden, France, Belgium, Austria and Ireland. Consulting in German, English and Chinese.

Frequently asked questions on EPR compliance

Do I need an authorised representative for electrical equipment in Germany?

Yes, if your company has no establishment in Germany. Under Section 8 of the ElektroG, manufacturers without a registered office in Germany must appoint an authorised representative who handles registration with stiftung ear and the ongoing obligations. ECOPV-EU takes on this role.

Do I need an insolvency-proof guarantee for electrical equipment?

Yes, if you place electrical or electronic equipment on the German market that can be used in private households (B2C). Under Section 7 of the ElektroG, manufacturers must provide stiftung ear with proof of an insolvency-proof guarantee every year to finance take-back and disposal. ECOPV-EU provides this guarantee through its own officially recognised collective system.

What is a producer responsibility organisation (OfH)?

An OfH organises the take-back and recycling of waste batteries for manufacturers under the German Battery Act Implementation Law (BattDG). ECOPV-EU is approved as an OfH for waste portable batteries.

Do I need to register packaging in the LUCID register?

Anyone placing packaged goods on the German market generally has to register in the LUCID packaging register of the Zentrale Stelle Verpackungsregister before selling. Packaging that typically ends up with private end consumers must also be licensed with a dual system. We support registration, system participation and volume reports.

What does the Single-Use Plastics Fund Act (EWKFondsG) require?

Manufacturers of certain single-use plastic products must register on the German Environment Agency's DIVID platform, report their volumes every year and pay a levy into the single-use plastics fund. ECOPV-EU supports registration and reporting.

In which countries does ECOPV-EU provide support?

In Germany and more than 20 other European countries, including France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Poland and Ireland.
